Harbledown - 2009 Flower Festival
We visited the Flower Festival once again on the August Bank Holiday Saturday 2009. We arrived mid-afternoon just as access to the church was suspended because of a wedding. While this was so, we went to view the helicopter giving booked rides from the Dukes Meadow
The theme this year was
Olde Shoppes.
The floral arrangement on the left by Joan Bluck was entitled
The Book Shoppe.
The weather was good and it was a treat to have the refreshments served outside.
There were some fun arrangements on the pillars and pews. Some people’s favourite food on the left. Personally I would go for the sugar mice. Camp coffee was my supper drink as a boy. I can’t stand the taste of it now - only real coffee will do.
We liked this arrangement of The Forge by Anne Wickenden, for its evocative use of white, black and red colours. My father was a blacksmith so it was a disappointment not to see the anvil!
