Holy Cross, Hoath, East Kent
Two views from the south side of the church. The upper one is the most commonly photographed view. The lower one illustrates how trees sometimes get in the way, large ancient yew trees are often the chief culprits. The fine glazed porch can just be appreciated.
Barrie says that the Chapel of Rest is older than the Church itself. The lower photograph is of the wall of the north aisle. The arch is probably a remnant of the original north door (circa 1300 - Pevsner). It is built into the newer wall of the aisle added by Joseph Clarke in 1867.
