This used to be the Picture House in Robin Lane. I recall seeing 20,000 Leagues under the Sea here not long after its release. I don't think this cinema survived beyond the fifties. The rise of TV was blamed for the closure of hundreds and hundreds of such Picture Houses.

After serving other purposes for years, latterly as a residential home, the old building was demolished and was being redeveloped in 2011 when this photograph was taken.
